Katherine MatosKatherine Matos Mateo

Katherine received her law degree from the “Pedro Henriquez Ureña National University (UNPHU)” in 2001 and later a Master in Law in Civil Procedure from the “Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM)”.


Before opening her practice in 2009, Katherine worked as a Prosecutor of the National District in Santo Domingo from 2006 to 2009. During this time, she occupied the roles of Coordinator of the Department of Childhood, Adolescence, and Family of the National District and Coordinator of the Litigation Department of the Gender Violence Unit.


From 2011 to 2014 Katherine served as the Legal Counsel for the Dominican Federations of Municipalities (FEDOMU) and after (2014-2016) she occupied the position of legal adviser at the Dominican Electoral Court (Tribunal Superior Electoral).

Katherine also has worked as a facilitator and ambassador of children's rights with “Save the Children” and other NGO's.

While Katherine has extensive litigation experience, she firmly believes that parties and their children benefit immensely when settlements can be reached without court intervention. As a result of her vast experience in the management and solution of socio-family conflicts, she has carried out various studies related to the management of domestic, gender and intra-family violence, as well as studies on the rights of children and adolescents and Family Law.

Katherine also has participated in several seminars related to the company’s incorporation Law, Money laundering law and Constitutional Law.
Katherine hosts the biweekly TV section “Legal y Humano” (Legal and Human) that airs on the local TV channel “Telequince”.

She is a member of the International Association of Family Law Jurists (AIJUDEFA), the Dominican Association of Businesswomen (ADME), the Dominican Association of Family Lawyers (ADADEF) and the Dominican Bar Association (CARD).

She lives in Santo Domingo with her husband and children.
